In December 2012, I had the opportunity to work with Omaha Marine Center on the design their 32-page, full color annual sales catalog. Local, family owned and operated for over 30 years, OMC was recently selected as one of the “Top 100 Boat Dealers in America” for the eighth year in a row. They are also recipients of numerous “Best of Omaha” awards.
OMC’s annual Boat Buyer’s Guide is one way OMC provides customers with detailed information on their inventory of new and used boats and additional information on other services, which include boat upgrades/accessories, maintenance, docks and boat lifts. If you’re in the market for a boat or boating accessories, make sure you stop by their showroom on 96th & L Street in Omaha, or visit them online at www.omahamarinecenter.com for more information.
In September, I wrapped up the design and layout of the 12th issue of Food & Spirits Magazine. I’ve been fortunate to have the opportunity to work with the FSM’s publisher, Erik Totten, on several issues, but I have to say that this one in particular was one of my favorites to work on.
In addition to fantastic articles (written by Michael Campbell, Dan Crowell, John Finocchiaro and Ann Summers, to name a few) and mouthwatering photography (by Jacob Herrman and Jessica Orth), what makes this issue particularly special is an activity book section which includes an image search, dot-to-dot and color by number (all illustrated by Jeff King). The 12th issue also marks another first for the magazine: a paper doll and collector’s card found on a die cut insert.
It was a real pleasure working on this latest installment of one of the best local magazines in the area. Look for your own copy in and around the Omaha metro today!
This September, Scott Creative completed a brochure design for Active Motion Chiropractic (Omaha, NE). Dr. Tyler Baker was looking for a brochure that could be used to explain the benefits of choosing chiropractic for treatment, his unique treatment model and available treatments.
Copy is accompanied by several high quality stock photos. The tri-fold, six-panel design was printed on 80# gloss text in full-color. At a scored and folded finished size of 11″ x 4.25″, the brochure is a little larger than the average brochure.
In May of 2012, Hustad Companies, Inc., a roofing and property management company was attending RECon in Las Vegas and called on Scott Creative to design a series of marketing pieces targeting prospective customers. With 1,000 exhibitors and more than 30,000 in attendance over the course of three days, RECon is one of the largest industry conventions around.
“We had a custom-built trade show booth for our inaugural appearance at RECON in Las Vegas – at a cost of over $40,000. We realized that our existing branding, colors and logo wouldn’t really fit with any of the concepts we were looking at. Scott Creative was able to completely rebrand our company image, from the logo and colors down to the tag line. ” said Spencer L., a consultant for Hustad Companies.
The print pieces integrate Hustad Companies new logo into a folder, double-sided folder inserts, a rack card and business cards. Estimates obtained from printers in Las Vegas showed that printing there was going to be more expensive than anticipated, so each piece was printed locally in Omaha and then shipped to Hustad’s booth at RECon. Printing and shipping took under a week and the deliverables were waiting there for Hustad’s employees when they arrived at RECon.
“We were going to use a printer out of Vegas who was the preferred contractor for the tradeshow, but Scott Creative saved us thousands on printing costs by sourcing locally and utilizing expedited shipping methods.”
This project in particular is a great example of Scott Creative’s ability to provide professionally designed print work on time while also working on the client’s behalf to ensure they’re getting the most out of their print investment.
In April, Scott Creative had the pleasure of working with Fox Run Golf Club (Council Bluffs, IA) on a redesign of their Golf Outing & Event Menu. Greg G., General Manager for Fox Run, contacted me about making changes to a design that the club had been using for several years. Greg had seen the work Scott Creative had done for Oakwood Country Club (Kansas City, MO) and was hoping I could help him with his design needs.
Greg had several changes to the menu, such as item and pricing information, but beyond those changes, Greg was looking for an attractive piece that would echo all that Fox Run has to offer. This new design highlights several new menu items, photos of the course, clean typography and strong branding of the club. The finished size is 8.5″ x 5.5″, scored and folded and was printed on 65# gloss cover.
In August, work was completed on a secondary print piece, a Wedding & Banquet Menu (below). This 12-page booklet includes information on the club’s policies, rental rates, dining options and testimonials from couples that have held events there in the past. The layout includes several photos of the clubhouse and grounds, room setups and meals. The finished size of this piece is 8.5″ x 5.5″, scored and folded, printed on 65# gloss cover.
